Globacom May Drop Dbanj Deal for Featuring MTN’s Ambassador KCEE in Video
Insiders reveal that the reason is not unrelated with the fact that he featured in the music video of Emmah, a song by Kcee, an ambassador of MTN, Globacom's main rival.
You see, though endorsements are lucrative to artists, it prohibits them from associating with elements of their endorsing companies' rivals.
It was for this reason that Tiwa Savage could not perform at the prestigious Sister With Soul concert last year.
She is an MTN ambassador and the concert was sponsored by Etisalat.
Omawumi, another Globacom ambassador, was also affected by her endorsement last year as, when she wanted to shoot the video of Warn Yourself, the song in which she featured Wizkid, she had to cut his vocals from the video as she couldn't feature him in it any longer because he was an MTN ambassador.
You will also recall that Kunle Afolayan was dropped by Glo for featuring "Etisalat's now MTN's Saka' in his hit movie, Phone Swap.

Revealed: Nigerians in Saudi change names to avoid deportation
Amb. Bunu, who disclosed this to journalists in Gusau on Saturday, said many of the emigrants had gone into hiding thereby making it difficult for the law enforcement agents to trace them.
He explained that in spite od joint efforts by the Saudi authorities and officials of the Nigerian Embassy there to locate them, only about 500 persons had been repatriated in the last six months.
He said the embassy had discovered that some of the emigrants, who had lived there for upwards of 25 years, had crossed through different routes including Sudan and Yemen or as pilgrims on lesser hajj and refused to return.
Bunu stated that although the figure of Nigerians staying illegally in the kingdom was not known, the Saudi authorities said it was over one million.
He therefore advised Nigerians who want to stay in the Arabian country to regularise their documents with the authorities to avoid unwarranted embarrassment.
Some deportees, who were brought back to Gusau recently and spoke to NAN on condition of anonymity, however claimed hat "only when one was hit with hard luck that the person gets arrested and deported."
They maintained that many Nigerians still lived normal lives in Mecca and Madinah by going to the markets and praying at the Holy Mosques without being harassed.
They said, "we will still go back whenever we get the chance," pointing out that, "we still have our family members and personal belongings there."
NAN reports that the ambassador was in the state to attend the state's PDP elders and stakeholders meeting organised by the party's caretaker leadership in Gusau.

5 Common Lies About Love Which You Must Not Accept
Here we go. This question may sound funny because most people usually believe they have an understanding of love especially in this age. Although, we may easily browse its meaning on the web, describe it as it is depicted in movies or explain it based on our personal understanding or experience. However, a poor understanding of love has made people attach a
wrong meaning to it which others are now accepting as true. Here are the misconceptions about love which most people believed and has affected their life and ruin their relationships.
**Love is a feeling
Feelings are temporal swings that build up in the mind. It is subjected to mood, situation or events that occurred within a particular period of time. However, when love is built on feelings, it will not last long. This is why some people can just say "I don't love him/her anymore" without quarrel or misunderstanding. This happened when the flames of feeling cease to burn. Isn't that surprising?
**Love gives you sleepless night
Many people who just fall in love blindly usually become restless or not composed because of their feelings. This is why they ended up saying, "I can't just stop thinking about you". How can that be when you are not jobless? Truth be said, there will be moments when you won't even think about the person you love because you are occupied with something else. It is lust or infatuation that makes you destabilize because it is selfish and demanding.
**Love is blind
Infatuation and lust are the common misconceptions people practice in place of love. Because of its sudden development, infatuation will not see certain things in a partner which could have a daring consequence in the relationship. Infatuation will not make you see some warning signs that can make you quit the relationship. When love is blind, it keeps people in an abusive relationship, makes them battered and ruins their life. Love is not blind, it sees, it listens and its open to receive instructions.
**Sex is a symbol of love
Can sex be the only sustaining force for a 50 year old marriage? Not so. One of the wrong perceptions of love is to believe that a relationship cannot thrive without sex. Love and sex are two different terms. Some ladies/guys would ask their partner to prove their love to them by giving them sex. That's not love but lust and the trending expression of love. Love shows commitment and sacrifice to a partner while sex is a means of sharing intimate pleasure amongst married couples. Any single lady/guy that demands sex only wants to ruin your life or fill his/her intimate appetite. Relationships built on sex will never thrive when sex cease to be given. Many have being fooled by this belief and will still be fooled. Don't be the next victim.
**Love is wicked
How true can this be? In the biblical qualities of love, love is described to be gentle and full of good works. I use to tell people that who you fall in love with will determine your definition of love. How would a faithful wife define love when her husband cheats on her? You cannot expect her to give you a good definition of love. This is why it is very important to know who you are falling in love with. Don't build love on feelings or emotional attachment or on a wrong foundation. Love is not dangerous. There are many people who still enjoy love in their relationship. Be very careful of whom you accept to fall in love with. Love is a decision and not an option.
Many people will still be deceived about the real meaning of love. It becomes so appalling that a lot of teenagers and some adults are falling victims of these misconceptions about love.
God is love and He modeled it by giving up His only Son for us. Any expression of love that will cost you your body which is meant to be reserved for a special person is not love. Not everybody that professes love to you truly loves you. Some are attracted to you because of your body or status. Moreover, love can see one's weaknesses, only lust or infatuation will fail to see it. Also, love does not grow out of emotions or feelings; it takes decision to love and be committed to the well-being of whom you decided to love, out of one's sacrificial effort without expecting a payback. Be mindful of who you fall in love with lest you give a wrong impression to the next generation.

Jonathan Skiped 31 Generals To Appoint Minimah As Chief Of Army Staff
Since the sack of the service chiefs and the immediate appointment of the new ones by President Jonathan during the week, there has been panic in the country's barracks, as the superiors of the new service chiefs fear that the retirement to be engendered by the development could affect them. Those who have cases against the new service chiefs are hoping to get redress at the National Assembly when they would be screened.
Special adviser on media and information Dr Reuben Abati had said the president "in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria" approved the following changes in the nation's military high command: Air Marshal Alex Badeh takes over from Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim as chief of defence staff; Maj-Gen. Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah takes over from Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika as chief of army staff; Rear Admiral Usman Jibrin takes over from Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba as chief of naval staff; and Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu takes over from Air Marshal Badeh as chief of air staff.
There was a conflict in the statement issued by Abati. He stated that "all the changes are with immediate effect" and that the president would soon seek the approval of the National Assembly as mandated by the constitution.
Since the announcement of what a top security person described as a tsunami, an uneasy calm has pervaded in most military formations and embassies abroad, since one aftermath of the re-organisation should include mass retirement of top officers who, according to the tradition of the military, would not be able to fit into the new system because of their years of service.
"President Jonathan as the commander-in-chief has the constitutional right to appoint whoever he wants as the service chiefs since the offices have become political, but courtesy calls for caution in considering who becomes what because of the implication on the military, especially the very senior officers who may be asked to go on voluntary retirement," a security top brass said. "One of the implications of appointing Maj-Gen. Minimah (a Regular Course 25 member of the Nigerian Defence Academy) as the chief of army staff is that all those who are his seniors, like Course 24, 23 or 22, are going. This is the tradition. The same thing would happen in the Air Force. In the Navy, those who are members of Regular courses above the new chief would go. This is why it is dangerous to allow the service chiefs to stay beyond the terms and conditions of service which stipulates 56 years of age and 35 years in service."
The source further explained that, with the imminent mass retirement, "all the services would be forced to overhaul the recent appointments made by the outgoing service chiefs because the new helmsmen would like to bring on board officers that they believe would give them absolute support".
Another military officer who noted that the appointment of General Minimah did not go down well with some forces in the north which lost out and that they would shift the battlefield to the National Assembly.
"The appointment of Minimah is an ill-wind that blows into the face of the military. We have been crying out that the agenda of Jonathan is to name his kinsman the chief of army staff right from his days in Lagos Command but they said we were alarmists; now the hen has come home to roost. There are so many officers who are superior to Minimah; now what becomes of them?
"One good thing is the appointments made by Jonathan are subject to the approval of the National Assembly. Let them (the lawmakers) ask him to explain why Minimah should be the COAS when there are very senior officers above him," he said.
The new chief of defence staff and former chief of air staff, Air Marshal Badeh, was born on January 10, 1957, and hails from Adamawa State. He joined the Air Force as a member of the Nigerian Defence Academy's 21 Regular Course.
The new army chief, Maj-Gen. Minimah, was born on July 27, 1959, and joined the Army as a member of the Nigerian Defence Academy's 25 Regular Course. Until his new appointment, he was the commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Jaji. Minimah hails from Rivers but, because he is an Ijaw man, some Nigerians believe he is from Bayelsa like Jonathan.

I’ll vote for Oshiomhole as president — Fashola
Speaking in Benin City at a youth summit organised by the Edo State Government, with the theme, 'Nigeria's centenary: Defining the issues and setting agenda for the future of our youths,' Fashola said, "If Governor Adams Oshiomhole decides to run as President of this country, he will have my vote. He is the kind of leader that Nigeria needs. I say that because, I have spent five memorable years of my life in Benin City as an undergraduate and as a youth corps member and they are very fond memories that I hold dear in my heart today.
"I am always looking forward to coming here each time I am invited. The excitement to come here is at an all time high. Since my brother assumed office as your governor, Benin City has not remained the same. It has changed positively and continues to change.
"On my way here, I drove past my former office on Sapele Road and clearly the place has been transformed. And the Airport Road is now wider. I know what Ring Road used to be like and Akpakpava Road. It is nice to know that tourism is back, flights are regular and you have done it because you have allowed yourselves to be led by a man who can inspire you to act. And I don't think anybody can claim the credit for what has happened here if not the people of Edo State."
In his remarks, Governor Adams Oshiomhole appealed to the youths not to give up on the nation, stating that the future of the country was in their hands.
Oshiomhole argued that every nation had its history and that Nigeria has come to stay.
He said, "As a people, what we should think about is how we can get our people properly managed such that the wealth of this great country is expressed in the quality of life of the citizen. How do we address the paradox of a nation so rich and yet its people are getting poorer?
"How do we raise the issue of how the promise of democracy can be fully realised, if the Federal Government continues to pocket 52 per cent and asks the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to share 26 per cent and the rest is shared by 774 local government areas.
"I do not think it is helpful for us to question whether Nigeria is a reality. So, I ask you as young people to recognise that every country has its share of problems and none of those problems can be resolved because the people have perfected the act of lamentation."

‘Cyprus Int’l University Not Liable for Death of Nigerian’ Student’
It also dispelled insinuations that the 16-years-old university was not accredited by the relevant institutions.
Meanwhile the family of the late Soriwei has again insisted that North Cyprus is not safe for Nigerians.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja Saturday, the Director, International Office (CIU), Mr. Patrick Douse, insisted that North Cyprus is one of the safest countries in the world.
This, he said, in response to statements credited to the Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Abike Dabiri that North Cyprus is not a safe country for Nigerians and that CIU is an unaccredited school.
"Those that are trying to make political gain and those that are trying to take advantage of the current negative press are happy to let confusion reign without proper investigations," he said.
Douse insisted that the staff members and management of the school acted with professionalism and followed conventions of international protocol while returning the victim's body to his family.
The school, he added, has also cooperated with Nigerian officials who visited North Cyprus in the aftermath.
Douse did not disclose the identity of the female driver who hit Soriwei and put him in a coma, attributing that to the ongoing investigations into the incident by the police.
"It is difficult to see how any University can be held accountable for off campus incidents during summer holidays, but perhaps the emotions and the lack of closure have led some to seek cause and effect and attribute blame where none exists. I do sincerely hope the family can come to terms with their loss and that the investigations reach their conclusions so the full disclosure of the facts can be in the public domain," Douse said.

Oduah Cries out: ‘Why they are after Me’
Speaking with select journalists in Abuja, the embattled minister said, "entrenched interests in the aviation sector who, for over 38 years, have held the sector by the jugular and refused to allow any meaningful development and change take place," are out to rubbish her modest efforts in the sector.
The minister, who said she would not be distracted by these entrenched interests, further said, "for the over 38 years that our airports were a damning commentary on our status as part of the civilized world; or when our airspace existed without the requisite navigational equipment and facilities to make the airspace safe; this category of persons saw no evil and heard no evil while they happily clapped their ways to the banks.
